Marco
"Martin" FANTINO(1-2) was born on 23 December 1886 in Canale, Italy to Mancizio Fantino
and Rosa Gallino.(3-5,8) He immigrated on
26 November 1906 arriving in New York with a final destination of a friend’s
home in Staten Island.(5) According to the
passenger record, Marco was single and a
farmer, and he had brown eyes and brown hair.(5) Marco entered the United States again in 1906 arriving in Pennsylvania and
staying until 1912, during this time period Marco married Cecelia Tapero on 13 November 1909 in
Armstrong County Pennsylvania. Marco and his wife lived in Gilpin Township
when their child was born in 1910.(9) Marco, Cecilia
and their child traveled back to Italy and when Marco immigrated again to the United States he came alone. Marco arrived in the United States for the
last time on 22 March 1920 arriving in New York with a final destination of his
brother-in-law, Modesto Rosselli, in Diamondville, Wyoming.(6) Martin
died in a gas explosion in Frontier No. 1 coal mine on 14 August 1923 at the
age of 36 in Frontier, Wyoming. (3-4) He was buried on 17 August 1923 in
Kemmerer, Wyoming.(3)
