89. Torresani, Luigi Faustino "Louis"

Luigi Faustino "Louis" TORRESANI(13) was born on 1 January 1892 in Italy to Giuseppe Torresani and Rosa MENAPACE.(36) He was christened on 3 January 1892 in the Santa Maria Assunta Catholic Church in Tassullo, Trento, Italy.(3) He immigrated on 7 December 1920 to New York going to his brother Carlo’s home in Valdez, Colorado.(7)  Louis submitted an employment application on 16 December in Pueblo, Colorado to work at Colorado Steelworks where he was described as 5 feet 4 inches, 160 pounds, dark complexion, with brown hair, brown eyes and spoke no English.(6)  Louis had no prior mining experience.(6)  He died in a gas explosion in Frontier No. 1 coal mine on 14 August 1923 at the age of 31 in Frontier, Lincoln, Wyoming.(4) He was buried on 17 August 1923 in Kemmerer, Wyoming and shares a headstone with Attilio MENAPACE(45)  Louis was single.(2,4)

Louis’s brother is Carlo TORESANI.  Carlo married Augusta MENAPACE.  Augusta MENAPACE’s brother, Ottilio MENAPACE, was also killed in the mine disaster.(7-9)
