54. Lupcho, Andrew


Andrew LUPCHO(1-3) was born in May 1869 in Austria/Hungary.(4-6)  Andrew immigrated about 1887 and was naturalized by 1900.(5)  Andrew LUPCHO and Barbara SHINTELLI(4,7-8) were married on 17 May 1893 in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.(4,6,9)  He appeared in the census in 1900 in East Union, Pennsylvania with his wife and four children where he was working as a coal miner.(5)  He appeared in the census in 1910 in Frontier, Wyoming, with his wife and nine children.(7)  On 4 June 1915, Andrew’s wife Barbara died from “apoplexy” while she was preparing breakfast.(14)  Andrew and Barbara had ten children the youngest child being one and a half years old.(14)  Andrew appeared in the census in 1920 in Lincoln County, Wyoming with his children.(1)  Andrew and his two sons, George (aged 28) and Joe (about 16) were all killed in a gas explosion in Frontier No. 1 coal mine on 14 August 1923 in Frontier, Wyoming.(6) Andrew was 54 years old.(3,5-6)  He was buried next to his wife on 17 August 1923 in Kemmerer, Wyoming.(6)

  1. My name is Shawn Lupcho. These were my great grandfather and two of great uncles. My grandfather, Paul Lupcho, was the son of Andrew and the brother of George and Joe.
